After another weekend of us working on site digging out a corner around the end of the house to make it easier for scaffolding, the Touchwood guys were back on Monday. Joe continuing cutting, and Craig fitting the pieces, with Adam appearing later in the week. Each day we visit we walk up the drive and you can smell the freshly cut timber, lovely.
The guys all have their own vans which they sleep in during the week. So when we've popped in first thing they're having their morning coffee (from a metal cafetière identical to the ones we use on the Shiants) and breakfast. The cabin is just for storage now and they have a little kitchen area they've setup in the garage.
We hired a digger for a day for Adam to re-make the track round the site following the trashing from the telehandler. All but one of the packs of timber are off the field now. By the end of the week things were really progressing. On Saturday I went for a walk round the main part of the house, seeing for the first time the real size of the rooms with the I-beams in place. It's wonderful.
Our mood has lifted beyond belief compared with three weeks ago, with each week feeling more relaxed. We've booked the roof company and are looking forward to the next things to order and work out. I've even got the energy to look at ideas for kitchens and interiors again.
:-)
See photo below - the steel sway frame is in place! It fitted the steel feet we'd spent ages sorting weeks ago. Phew.
