I'll write about the history of Hillcroft v1 another time as we have heard plenty of stories, but we learned all of this over the past couple of years. All we knew when we took it on it in late 2016 was that it had been empty for some time, having been lived in for decades by a couple who had moved out to be closer to family prior to a builder owning it for a short time. The photos below show the interior as it was when we bought it. That first day when we walked inside with the keys to a building we owned and were hit by the stench of mould was quite something.
The murals were painted by the father of the lady who lived here. He'd come over from France every year and paint while he was here. Apparently he was quite a character and had a thing about doing head-stands, and would do one on his birthday every year out on the front garden whilst staying at Hillcroft. The story goes that he lived until he was over 100 and was still managing a head-stand then.
Kitchen. Love the bin bag over the fan in the window

Lounge. Apparently there was once a grand piano in here!
Hallway
Front bedroom
The Upstairs Room Is boiling hot and bright You can go up there in summer and there's no way you'd have wanted to dance all night, as it was a bit creepy
