Flint

Flint. There is a lot of it.
There are even more lumps of flint than there are rats in the garden.

There was once a flint wall along the inner side of the drive, which some years ago was removed to widen the entrance slightly. The old flint wall was left in pieces in the front garden when we bought the place, and so once we found said pile under years of vegetation we chipped off all the cement and carted the flint up the garden thinking maybe we could use it again somehow. Writing that makes it sound like it took a few minutes to do, which it most certainly didn’t. Flint is also very dense. And there is a lot of it.

We had an idea around this time after seeing pictures on Pinterest of a sleek modern wooden-clad house with a flint covered porch area. We could do the same for Hillcroft, surely we have enough flint here? Who knows if we do, or indeed how we build a flint covered porch. We are going to try though. That’s because we have a lot of flint.
