Bees

As part of our planning application we had to have a full ecological survey. Due to the age, condition and location of the house we had to have three bat surveys. Thankfully there were no bats - the place was so bad even they didn't want to live there. However, there were bees who were happy to, and we knew there was a bees nest up in the attic bedroom somewhere. In the autumn of 2018 we decided it was time to investigate to get the place ready for demolition, so got my beekeeper Dad involved. Frames, tiles and guttering were removed before finding the only way in was from the inside. After ripping off the ceiling, the buzzing got louder so Andy made a swift exit to let Dad in his bee suit do the final part - a huge nest of curved combs was found. Not a viable nest to save though so the combs were pulled out, and the bees had to go and find somewhere else, sorry bees.
